"Having had all our bikes stolen we were determined to make them safe... We feel safe with the Brodco."
It takes an average of 20 seconds to steal a motorcycle and UK bikes are nearly 4 times more likely to be stolen than cars. With 80% being stolen from owners’ homes and many insurance companies declining insurance because of inadequate secure garaging it is not surprising more and more bikers are turning to DaylightSECURE Strongrooms.
In 2013 a DaylightSECURE was the first storage shed in the twenty-five-year history of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Secured by Design initiative to achieve their standard.
The walls, floor, door, hinges, lock and roof were each subjected to sustained physical attacks conducted by BRE (British Research Establishment) an independent testing and certification company. Each component had to withstand specified attacks defined in a set protocol for the building to achieve the required standard.
Since then the product has benefited from further improvements for additional security.
If you have a high value motorbike, accessories and other gear and live in a high-risk area, this is the storage for you.
Wide Access Doors
Double doors transform our Strongroom into a bike garage, providing an access width up to 5’6”, sufficient for the largest touring bikes, even with panniers fitted. Single doors provide an access width of 3’3”, still wider than standard width doors.
The threshold can be as low as 15mm making it easy for your bike to enter and exit.
Unlike so many garden buildings the Strongroom provides plenty of headroom, a full 6’8” (2.04mtr) rising to 7’2” (2.20mtr) in the centre of the domed roof. Even the door provides more than 6’ of headroom.
Cleaning Your Bike
With masses of natural daylight flooding through the roof, cleaning and maintaining your bike inside the building is not a problem, even with the doors closed.
The walls and roof of all Strongrooms are maintenance free with a lifetime guarantee, which means you have more time to do the things you want to do instead of spending time with a brush. Doors are covered by the specialist manufacturers guarantee.

Fix Special Racking
Brodco offers a range of TidyUp storage solutions, but we also realise some items require special supports. The TPR walls can be drilled to take customers’ own storage supports and shelving. See our accessories to learn more.
Rodents cannot enter a DaylightSECURE Strongroom – not unless you let them in through an open door. That means all those tasty leather and plastic parts don’t end up as squirrel or mouse fodder.
Blends Into Garden
With a huge choice of colour and size combinations there is a building for all gardens and landscapes. Choose green or brown combinations to merge into the background or be bold with more contemporary combinations.
Our buildings have a very low carbon footprint and offer a solution to the global problem of plastic waste that cannot be recycled. Each DaylightSECURE Strongroom saves up to 10 cubic metres of raw plastic entering landfill. That’s about the same size as two African elephants!
Our wall panels are made from TPR, an award winning synthetic concrete developed as a green technology composite by Affresol with the help of British universities. Manufactured using a unique cold process utilising traceable, non-toxic waste polymers from industry, the product is sustainable, recyclable and supported by The Carbon Trust.
No other building material can equal the collective qualities of TPR; it will not rot, warp, bend, leach, melt, rust, sweat or absorb moisture. TPR has low permeability and excellent thermal properties to reduce any risk of condensation and has a Class E fire classification suitable for building construction. It is stronger than concrete and 30% lighter.
Wall panels are 1981mm in height and the outer surface is coated with a marine quality gel coat with a choice of colours. The panels can be drilled for fixings, are maintenance free and carry a Lifetime Warranty.
The design of the roof allows light to flood into the building and ensures any dust or leaves are washed away from the surface when it rains. Ventilation points in each of the corners help to minimise the risk of condensation on the inner surface.
The 6x12, 8x12 and 10x12 buildings use twin roofs bonded to give a ‘double bubble’ roof. This allows the integral strength of the roof to be maintained while still complying with the Permitted Development planning rules.
The roof is manufactured in a triple layer fiberglass composite as tested for the Secured by Design award. The Strongroom Max roof provides an even higher level of security with a full Kevlar laminate for maximum security, ideal for storing high value bikes, equipment and machinery.
The perimeter of the roofs are finished to compliment the chosen door colours of Juniper Green, Van Dyke Brown, Graphite, and White.
We only use British made doors. The DuraPass single doors have an award for innovation and it’s easy to see why. Clever design and smart features bring great benefits to everyday use and offer excellent durability and life-span.
The single DuraPass doors provide a headroom of more than 6ft (1834mm) and a choice of 2ft 6in (763mm) or 3’3” (1013mm) access widths. The doors are manufactured with a sandwich construction of twin corrosion protected steel skins filled with an insulating polyurethane core. A pair of hardened, galvanised twin hook latches make up the four-point locking system while neoprene seals run around the inside of the door frame to prevent water ingress around the door. The threshold is just 15mm, making easy access for wheeled machinery and bikes. DuraPass doors are available in a choice of standard solid colours; Juniper Green, Van Dyke Brown, Anthracite, and White. Oak and Rosewood are available with a foil finish. The rear of the door is finished in an off-white light reflecting finish. The doors are complimented with black handles and hinges.
Double garage doors are a traditional favourite and the DuraTherm range, available on our larger sheds, retain the timeless appeal of a simple hinged opening but brings it right up to date with insulated panels, a superb locking system, beautiful designs and a build quality that is unmatched. With a headroom of more than 6ft (1976mm) and internal widths of 5ft (1550mm) and 5ft 6in (1690mm) and a threshold of just 15mm these doors are great for wide motorcycles, quad bikes and ride-on mowers.
These are premium doors with a 40mm insulated core between corrosion protected steel skins. The extruded heavy-duty aluminium frame is super rigid and rebated to hold a Q-Lon seal – that’s in addition the Q-Lon seal fitted to the doors.
Duratherm doors are available in solid colours of White or Anthracite and Golden Oak or Rosewood in a foil finish. Frames are finished to match the door colour although Golden Oak and Rosewood doors have Van Dyke Brown frames.
Doors are fitted with dual latch CE mortice locks operated through an ERA 3 Star lock cylinder providing anti-snap, anti-bump and anti-drill protection.
The single door has a four-point locking system with hardened steel galvanised hook latches. Double doors have robust shoot bolts fitted to the second opening door at the top and bottom.
The assembly and construction is designed for all fixings to be completed inside the shed, leaving the outside free of screws and bolts.
Wall fixings are hardened 8.8 steel screw bolts and roof fixings are stainless steel coach screws.
The DaylightSECURE is designed to stand on a concrete base that is within normal building tolerances, that is 6mm of being level measured across the whole surface. The wall panels are bolted and sealed to the concrete.
If the concrete base is greater than 6mm and no more than 12mm of being level, or if the base is paving or tarmacadam less than 12mm of being level a TPR floor base will be required. The panels are designed to prevent water ingress and the wall panels are bolted direct to the floor panels.

Length and Width
The sizes shown in our price list are the external dimensions. The TPR panels are 70mm thick at the perimeters, therefore 140mm should be deducted from the external width and length to provide the internal dimensions.
The internal height is 2.04m measured at the perimeter rising to 2.235m at the centre of the roof. The external height is 2.34m or 2.39m if a TPR floor is installed.
External overhang of roof
The roof extends 30mm beyond the walls. The building can therefore be erected close to fences, walls or hedges as the construction is completed on the inside and the outside walls will not require maintenance.
When we bought our house it came complete with an old wooden shed that took up a large part of our compact garden. It was damp and rotten, and only good for storing old tins of paint as the door didn’t close properly, let alone lock! As keen cyclists and gardeners, our bikes and tools lived safely inside the house with us. Replacing that old shed couldn’t have come moment too soon. In fact, it practically dismantled itself, it was so rotten. Now our DaylightSecure is home to our three bikes, all our gardening equipment, as well as a few of those old tins of paint. Our power tools also live there because it’s dry, roomy and more secure than our house. It's footprint is smaller than our old shed, but it’s much more spacious inside because it doesn’t have one of those slanting roofs. Plus, as someone with a massive fear of spiders, it’s light inside so I’m not scared to venture in anymore. We’ve just installed electricity inside too by drilling in to the side so I can see it turning into a bit of a summerhouse soon too! Thanks Brodco – you’ve transformed our garden.

We are very pleased with our Brodco shed. Having had all our bikes stolen we were determined to make them safe. We feel safe with the Brodco.
It feels as if it will wear much better than a traditional wooden shed and we don’t need to bother painting it, which is excellent. It looks good in the garden. Light coming through the roof is an added benefit as we can see what we are doing, whereas in a wooden shed it is hard to see so clearly.
We feel we have made an investment that is worthwhile and long lasting. Well worth the money.
- R. Pearson-Young, Cheshire
It was a big decision as there were cheaper options.
But now every time I lock the door and walk away.
I know I made the right choice.

Never has ‘you get what you pay for’ been more true and a lifetime of use is the reward.
I have no hesitation in recommending the Daylight Secure or dealings with Brodco people.

Extremely pleased with my Double Daylight Secure-so much more confidence in its security than any wooden shed. Amazed at the amount of daylight the roof lets in which means unlit tinkering can go on well into the evening. Brilliantly designed and extremely easy to keep clean, just move a few things outside and set to with the hose. Would strongly recommend the “imposing” floor rings to lash down valuable bikes, mowers, and other expensive garden machinery.
Cannot praise highly enough and, despite the truly hideous weather when mine went up, the guys who did it remained cheerful (somehow) and their attention to detail and the finer points of tidying up and not trampling the garden was to be applauded. Very happy with my investment in a Brodco shed.
- R. Smith, Gloucestershire
I was fed up with having bikes stolen from the shed at the end of my garden and had taken to keeping the more expensive ones in the house while I found a way of storing them securely outside. I was looking at various options when I saw this at Hampton Court Flower Show and realised it was just what I needed. I duly ordered one and had it installed.
It is now at the end of the garden with all our bikes in it and I no longer worry about them being stolen. The colour fits in well and it doesn’t stand out. I did have a problem with the lock first thing on a Friday morning. I rang Simon at Brodco and he was at our house by lunch time and fixed the problem. Given the distance he had to travel he must have dropped everything to come and resolve the issue. Great product. Great service.

We recommend our approved installers to collect the building from the works in Swansea, transport and install it at your address.
Weights vary from 750kg to over 2000kg.
For larger sheds, some of the TPR panels will be delivered by a transport company on a pallet, we do not transport doors or roofs on a pallet.
The service is only available for mainland Britain and does not include islands or the Scottish Highlands.
Customers may collect and erect DaylightSecure sheds from the works in Swansea if preferred. We do not recommend 6’ x 12’, 8’ x 12’ or 10’ x 12’ sheds are self-installed unless an experienced laminator is available to bond the roofs.
